Hi, i sprayed 3 girls last night, all looked fine when i left, nothing unusual happened and i didnt change anything that i normally do. This morning one of them has rang me asking for a refund as she is patchy and so are her 2 friends ? Im going to visit them later to have a look. But feel really disappointed as have never had this happen before, has anyone else ever had this problem ?

Hello, right did you go through all the prep with them before hand? And did you check they followed it on the day of their tan?
If you did all that then it's up to them to follow the advice in order to get the best tan possible.
Oil can effect a tan badly so check they used oil free products before and after and they exfoliated thoroughly. Did they pat themselves dry when showering it off? Some time peopl erub with a towel causing the tan to go patchy. Or maybe they didn't take care when it was developing? Check all this and ask them everything before you give them a refund, they could be trying it on.

Thanks for your reply Hayley, i did ask if they had anything on their skin deo, perfume etc and they said no. One of them had been swimming but had showered afterwards, could that have made a difference. They had all had spray tans before so i assumed they would know to keep the skin bare anyway. . . . I will see for myself later anyway. Thanks for the advice.

They should NOT swim before a tan because of the chlorine even if they have showered thoroughly.
If the tan won't develop and has washed off then they have used a product which contains oil. Check their body wash. I tell my clients to use radox with lavender and waterlilly as it's ph balanced, oil free etc. . With a pair of mittens to scrub and to not exercise either.

Let me know how you get on. Also check they aren't on antibiotics or medication as it can stop a tan from working

I had this problem last year from four girls, and i know when they the salon I had sprayed them fine. One phoned up two days later and moaned, I asked her to pop into the salon, and guess what. . She said she did not have the time, so I said I could do nothing until I could see the results, neverbheard from her or her mates again. I used the same product on a different client and it was fine. Watch out for groups the can tell porkys just to get a free tan.

I have put a post on How to store solution. . . Above. If a tan washes away all together, it could be your solution is old or the lid has not benn screwed on well, this happens alot, test your solution on say the inside of you leg and see what happens.

That's whats so frustrating about spray tanning, you just never know what they've done beforehand and you don't usually get to see the final result. Customers will swear blue in the face that they've prepped properly but I recently had a regular customer bemoaning the fact that her tan only lasts a couple or three days which I couldn't understand, then she let it slip she always moisturises a few hours before having a tan! ! I have given her no end of leaflets on how to prepare, gone through the preparation verbally with her on a number of occasions and yet she still hadn't listened to what I'd advised! ! ! ! Some people! ! ! X
